While in New Orleans I had Hemi serviced. At 70,000 miles she was ready for an oil and filter change, replace windshield wipers, top off all fluids, rotate tires and check entire vehicle. During this inspection it was determined that I needed to replace the Serpentine belt as it had micro tears. It was determined the differential fluids needed to be replaced as well. This was completed in New Orleans.
Upon driving from New Orleans to the Florida Panhandle and on to Jacksonville Beach, FL it seemed the brakes had uneven wear and tear and that it was prudent to have them examined. Hemi also had a situation where the truck bed tailgate was not locking. Logistically I needed to find a competent service station that could address these items. As I was departing Jacksonville Beach, FL for my next stop at Lake Hartwell in Toccoa, GA, I found a great dealership service center that was able to fit me in and assess what work, if any, was required. Will, the lead service technician, determined that the brake pads remained in very good shape but that the brake rotors had uneven wear. The solution was to grind or resurface all 4 brake rotors. The vehicle also had a slight vibration at speeds of 75 or more. This was addressed through micro-balancing of the wheels. As for the tailgate lock, let’s just say the solution was very simply and everything is working beautifully now.
After a few hours Hemi was ready to go. So I paid the bill and got back on the road.
From there it was time to eat and, being in Georgia, it was only appropriate that I headed to Waffle House for a late breakfast.
As it was still morning I selected a vegetable omelette. Now Hemi was happy and so was I.
